About Rai Glover

Featured on the cover of Today’s Charlotte Woman Magazine, Rai Glover was named “Master of Transition” due to her abilities to navigate corporate America at an early age.

Rai joined Citizens and Southern National Bank (predecessor to Bank of America) during her second semester Freshman year in College. Having worked 23 years at Bank of America and its predecessor banks, Rai has held 9 different positions including Senior Vice President and Market Development Manager for Bank of America’s Human Resources and Marketing covering the headquarters, Regional Executive for the Bank of America Foundation – managing a team of contribution managers from New York to Florida which contributed over $35 million in direct grants to non profit organizations, Regional Employment Executive, Corporate Diversity Executive, Operations Manager, Transition Manager for several transition efforts in Texas, Florida and in Virginia, and more.

Rai retired from Bank of America in 2007, becoming one of the youngest retirees under the bank’s “Rule of 60” qualifications – age plus years of service totaling 60 or greater – to care for her father whose health was failing. Rai firmly believes that God is ordering her steps.

Rai completed her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education Degrees from the University of South Carolina. She completed the South Carolina Bankers School where she served as president of her class. Rai received further certification from Duke University. She served as a Woodrow Wilson Fellow and a member of the National Speakers Association.

Rai is committed to civic involvement and responsibility. Rai was appointed by the House of Representatives to serve on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Community Colleges System (NCCCS). On NCCCS, Rai serves on the finance committee overseeing a budget of approximately $1.3 billion. She serves on the board of the Charlotte Regional Visitors Association (CRVA). Rai has served as an “Advisory Board Member”, “Board Member” or “Member” to over 30 Boards and Task Forces. She previously served on the Board of Directors of the United Way and served as chair of the Women’s Leadership Initiative.

Rai’s honors and recognitions include being inducted into the W.L. Bonner College Hall of Fame, BOB (Best of the Best) award by Charlotte Magazine, Person of Prominence by The Charlotte Post Newspaper, Most Supportive Person of the Latin American Community by the Latin American Excelente Awards, Maya Angelou Women Who Lead award presented by Dr. Maya Angelou, Outstanding Leader in the Community award presented by the National League of Cities (NLC) - the nation’s oldest and largest organization representing municipal government, Excellence in Business award by Pride Magazine, National LEND (Leadership Excellence in Neighborhood Development) award by Bank of America.

Rai enjoys Motivational Speaking and Leadership Coaching for Excellence. She has given countless speeches to corporations, colleges, universities and community organizations. She participates on panels and has appeared on television and on radio. Rai has often been referred to as “Rai of HOPE” for her Honesty, Optimism, Positivism and Excitement.

Rai is the author of the book Corporate to Kindergarten which shares her personal weekly diary of the joys and struggles she faced while being a mom to a kindergartner and managing a thriving corporate career.  Rai is co-author of the book Running Through The Scary Woods. Rai’s mother, Lilease Hall, began this story of her own life. Rai took her mother’s writings and finished the book so that it could be a gift to her mother on her birthday. Rai’s mother passed on August 26, 2010, six months after she realized the dream of having her manuscript published.

Rai is married to her best friend, Lewis Glover. They are blessed with two children, Austin (12) and Ashley (8). Rai thanks God for her parents who laid a “positive” foundation for her life and the lives of her 4 older siblings. God first!
